Share Your Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program Experience with Your Members of Congress
May 29, 2017
The U.S. Congress recently approved funding for the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program (TSL) for the remainder of fiscal year 2017. This will ensure that districts and states awarded TSL (formerly called TIF) grants will receive continued funding for their innovative work.
A number of educators have reached out to their members of Congress to share their experience with these grants as the Congress considers funding for fiscal year 2018. Below is an example of a letter from educators. Consider sharing your experience and the impact that this grant has had in your district.

As educators working with students in high-need schools, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the support the Congress has provided through the Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) and encourage you to continue this initiative. This program, renamed the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program (TSL) in the Every Student Succeeds Act, supports states and districts to increase teacher and principal effectiveness and student academic achievement in high-need schools.
The changes supported through the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program have led to substantial increases in teacher and principal effectiveness and student achievement in our schools and districts. This funding has enabled us to realign our school budgets, structures and supports to provide high-need students with greater access to effective teachers and principals. We are committed to sustaining these improvements over time, as they are enabling us to better support student success and close achievement gaps. Thank you for your support of our work through the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program.
