Sam Jordan serves as the Grants Director at The Alaska Council of School Administrators (ACSA) in Juneau, Alaska, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing educational initiatives across the state. With over 22 years of experience in K-12 education, Sam has dedicated his career to enhancing educational practices and policies in Oregon, New Jersey, and Alaska.
Throughout his career, Sam has been a policy lead for numerous statewide initiatives, a grants administrator, a lead communicator of statewide policy, and a liaison to the Federal Department of Education. He has worked onsite in the majority of Alaskan school districts, including many rural and remote locations.
Sam’s areas of expertise include special education practice and policy, education technology policy, communications, and outreach. His current work includes directing the development and management of a wide portfolio of grant projects throughout Alaska, specifically focusing on grants that address Yup’ik language revitalization and educator recruitment and retention. He additionally serves as editor and writer for the ‘Our Alaskan Schools’ blog which highlights educator excellence in Alaska’s public schools.
Sam’s extensive background includes roles as a special education teacher and director, a Special Education Program Development Specialist with the New Jersey Department of Education, and Assistant Administrator of Special Education and Education Technology Coordinator at the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. He holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Lewis and Clark College, an Master's of Arts degree in Special Education from Western Oregon University, and a K-8 Principal Certification from Lamar University.
