Amrit serves as the Controller for NIET. In this role, Amrit owns the accounting function for the organization along with the annual audit process and supports in budget development, management, and financial reporting. Amrit oversees the staff accountant and is responsible for all aspects of accounting related to organization’s operations. Amrit is a certified public accountant with over a decade of experience in non-profit sector.

Prior to joining NIET, Amrit served as a Director of Finance at the Tennessee State Collaborative on Reforming Education where he led annual budget development, the annual audit, regulatory compliance, payment process, and internal and external financial reporting. In addition, Amrit researched and implemented process improvements to financial and accounting systems, managing vendor set-up, supporting the development of contracts as well as project and grant budgets. Prior to that, Amrit worked at Cure Violence as a staff accountant for several years. He earned his master’s degree in accounting and bachelor’s degree in accounting with high honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
