Cassandra has over thirty years of experience in the field of education, beginning as a classroom teacher and achieving the distinguished honor of National Board Certification. For nine years, Cassandra served as a NIET Master Teacher, providing mentorship and professional development to fellow educators. Cassandra later transitioned to a district literacy coach for one year and then spent three years as a district math specialist, where she supported instructional coaches and teachers in enhancing instructional practices. Throughout this time, Cassandra also played a key role in the development of a new teacher support program, contributing to the growth and success of educators within the district. Passionate about empowering teachers and improving student outcomes, Cassandra brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to educational excellence to the NIET team.

Why are you passionate about working at NIET?

I am passionate about working at NIET because the organization's values deeply align with my own beliefs about effective education. I believe in the power of instructional excellence and its ability to transform student outcomes, and NIET's focus on supporting teachers in their professional growth resonates with me. Collaborative learning has always been central to my approach, and I am excited to work alongside a team of dedicated educators who share that commitment. Continuous improvement is key to both personal and collective success, and I am driven by the opportunity to help teachers and leaders refine their practices. Finally, I firmly believe in collective leadership, where every educator has a voice in shaping the future of education, and I am eager to contribute to this empowering environment at NIET.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I love spending quality moments with my family and friends, whether it's a casual get-together or a special outing. I’m also a big fan of exploring new bakeries and restaurants, always on the lookout for delicious finds. Traveling is another passion of mine, and I enjoy discovering new places and cultures whenever I get the chance. It’s a great way to recharge and gain new perspectives!
