School earns $10,000 for improving teacher practice and student achievement growth

2020 NIET Founder's Award Finalist: Chinle Elementary School, Arizona

Located in the heart of the Navajo Nation, Chinle Elementary School, Arizona, is selected among five schools nationally as a finalist for the 2020 NIET Founder's Award. The honor comes with a $10,000 prize.

Chinle's culture of support and excellence to attract, retain, and develop effective teachers has resulted in significant gains for students.

"We have embraced the NIET rubric wholeheartedly," says Academic Co-Chair Camala Stealy Natay. "We see the results in our students' growth and achievement."

"Our teachers inspire the students," Principal Janie Christie says.
