Douglas MacArthur Elementary School in Perry Township Schools, Indiana, received the 2021 NIET Founder's Award and its $50,000 grand prize.
Principal Star Hardimon – a former teacher – credits school and district support for helping her lead Douglas MacArthur to an "A" state rating through developing her teachers as learners, challenging their thinking, continuously analyzing data, and getting results.
"The NIET framework has affected every component of what we're doing, and we see it in our teacher effectiveness, and in our student growth," said Hardimon. "My instructional leadership team has been integral to everything we do at school. I can now have the idea of shared leadership where everyone is impacted and supports our outcome."
