If You Don’t Tell Your Story, Someone Else Will: Communicating for Impact
In this short session, NIET Chief Policy Officer Kristan Van Hook helps educators to strengthen their ability to communicate about their work and to do so in ways that advance their goals.
As a practice, storytelling can be structured, learned, and shared. Storytelling is a way to engage others, at a deep level, to participate in change. Data is absolutely important, as are structural or process changes that improve teaching and learning. Providing the human story behind the data and the improvement work gives listeners the ability to personally relate and to better remember what you shared.
